Department of Architectural Engineering Graduates’ Employment
Successes Raise Hope Amidst COVID-19 Disruption

In 2020, four graduates from the DSU Department of Architectural Engineering have achieved the honor of passing civil service exams in fields related to their majors. They were: Kim Seon-jong, who will enter the Seoul Housing and Communities Corporation; Choi Ho-jin, a level-6 position at the Korea Authority of Land and Infrastructure Safety; Park Jong-hyeon, the Busan Transportation Corporation; and Kim Tae-gang, Busan City Architects. In addition, a number of students succeeded at getting jobs at large companies, and also secured initial annual salaries of over 40 million won. They included Kwon Tae- hwan, who entered Hyundai Engineering and Construction; Kim Chan-ho, Lotte Engineering and Construction; Ha Dong-hoon and Woo Chang-hyeong, Hyundai Engineering; Park Ju-yeong, Samsung C&T Corporation; and Cha Young-myeong, Dongyang Engineering and Construction Group.

These numbers are expected to rise, as eight students are currently studying the employ- ment linkage course at the Hyundai Engineering and Construction Technology Education Center, after which they will be hired by various new affiliates of the Hyundai Group. Also, Yeom Seok-hyeon and Kim Seong-min have made successful transitions to overseas employment in Vietnam and Japan respectively.

Many of these successful employment outcomes can be attributed to the combination of the DSU LINC+ project team’s operation of various certification acquisition programs and the large contributions made under the leadership of various department professors. Lee Dong-woon, Dean of the Department of Architectural Engineering said, “With students’ strong success in securing employment, the strong brand of the Department of Architectural Engineering creates a ripple effect for subsequent graduates.”
