Dr. Park Dong-soon, Dongseo Educational Foundation Chancellor, attended the Latin America Sub-forum of the World Women University Presidents Forum (WWUPF) as an invited speaker. Held online from 21:00~23:30 (Korean time) on October 19, this online/offline hybrid event was co-hosted by Communication University of China and the Inter-American Organization for Higher Education (IOHE), and was integrated into the latter’s Conference of the Americas on International Education (CAIE).

The IOHE is a higher education cooperative organization with a 40-year history in which 350 universities from 28 countries, including the United States, Canada, Chile, Brazil, and Colombia, participate as members. Every two years, it holds the CAIE at a selected location in the Americas.

Under the title of “International Collaborative Education: Best Practices of Dongseo University,” Chancellor Park’s presentation introduced the internationalization programs started during her 12-year tenure as president of DSU, as well as the internationalization of DSU brought about by its continuous and consistent university policies towards that end. Chancellor Park’s and DSU’s outstanding success in these fields received a great deal of attention and an enthusiastic response from the sub-forum’s attendees.

In particular, the sub-forum provided a meaningful opportunity for South American university presidents to be introduced to the process by which DSU emerged as one of the most preferred Korean universities for foreign students. It also offered an opportunity for sharing the results of the DSU University College of Design’s global design programs.

More than 200 presidents and vice-presidents attended the event, including: Jinan Liu, former President of Communication University of China and founder of WWUPF; Gulun Saglamer, President of the European Women Rectors Association; Cecilia Paredes, President of Polytechnic College of Litoral in Ecuador; Huang Lu, Vice President of Peking University in China; Marisol Duran Santis, President of Metropolitan University of Chile; Geraldine McKenzie, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Southern Queensland, Australia; and Lauren Müller de Pacheco, President of Universidad Privada de Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia.
